Batch Watermark Tool (free)

Add a text or logo watermark to many images at once

Add a watermark to your photos in one go.

Use the toolHow it works

Click here to choose photos or drop them here (several allowed)

Photos are processed only in your browser and are never uploaded. You can add up to 100 at a time, and the saved files do not carry the original location or camera data (EXIF). The watermark is drawn onto the photo when it is saved again.

How to use the batch watermark tool

  1. Choose or drop photos. You can add many at once and pick which one to preview from the list.
  2. Enter watermark text or add a logo, then set size, opacity and position, and the preview updates at once. Choose repeat to spread it over the whole photo.
  3. Pick an output format, then save this photo only, or save all photos with the same settings as a ZIP.

How the watermark is placed on a photo

This tool draws the photo on a hidden canvas, draws the watermark text or logo over it, and saves the result as a new image file. The text is drawn once at the chosen size into a small image, and then position, rotation and opacity are applied, so every photo gets the same shape. Size is a ratio of the shorter side, so photos with different resolutions show a similar size.

To keep text from getting lost on bright or dark areas of a photo, the auto outline option draws a dark outline around light text and a light outline around dark text, so it reads on any background. With a transparent PNG logo, the mark sits in its own shape instead of a rectangle.

Choosing repeat spreads the watermark over the whole photo at a fixed spacing, and stagger shifts every other row by half so the pattern looks less regular. Adding rotation puts it on a diagonal and makes it harder to crop out. For a single mark you can pick one of nine positions and a margin.

Uses and tips

It suits photos that need to show their source, such as blog and shop photos, portfolios and shared albums. A small faint mark in a corner shows the source without spoiling the photo, and for sample photos for sale, a repeated mark at low opacity helps when unauthorized use is a worry.

When you add the same watermark to many photos, set it up once and save as a ZIP to save a lot of time. wm is added to each file name so it stays distinct from the original. Keep the originals separately, because a watermark cannot be undone once applied.

White text with the outline on is the safest choice for text watermarks, and if many photos are bright, dark text reads better. More characters cover more of the photo, so a short phrase such as a name or domain is recommended.

For a logo, a PNG with a transparent background sits on the photo most cleanly. A logo size of 10 to 20 percent of the shorter side is recognizable without hurting the photo, and if you add text too, it joins under the logo as one block.

Pick the output format to suit the purpose. Use JPG or WebP to reduce size for photos going on the web, and PNG for photos you will edit again. For very large photos, a long-side limit around 4,000px makes processing faster and files smaller.

When you add many photos, pick them in turn from the list and check the preview. Seeing that the watermark reads on bright, dark, landscape and portrait photos reduces rework after saving. If one setting does not read on a certain photo, save only that photo separately with another color or position and zip the rest.

Tips for a good look

  • Start at 30 to 50 percent opacity and adjust to the photo.
  • A margin of about 3 percent keeps corner marks stable.
  • On bright photos use a dark text color, or white text with the outline on.
  • For repeating marks, a rotation around -30 degrees with wide spacing looks good.
  • Check both landscape and portrait photos in the preview before saving.

FAQ

Will the watermark look similar on photos of different sizes?

Yes. Text and logo sizes are set as a ratio of the shorter side of each photo, so photos of different sizes get a similar proportion. Landscape and portrait photos keep the same impression.

When should I use the repeating watermark?

Use it when you want to make photos harder to reuse. A mark in one corner is easy to crop out, but a repeated mark is hard to remove. It does cover the photo, so lower the opacity and widen the spacing for a pleasant look.

Can I add a logo and text together?

Yes. If you add a logo and also enter text, the text sits under the logo as one block placed at the same position and opacity. Leave the text empty for logo only, or add no logo for text only.

Does saving reduce quality?

PNG keeps full quality, while JPG and WebP reduce file size and change quality a little depending on the quality value. If file size matters, a JPG quality around 85 to 90 is a good choice. A long-side limit of 0 keeps the original size.

Does a watermark fully protect my photos?

No. A watermark makes reuse harder and shows the source, but it is not full protection. Keep originals separately and consider publishing at reduced sizes as well.

Notes & limitations

A watermark does not fully prevent reuse and cannot be undone once applied, so keep your originals. Photos are processed only in the browser and are not sent to a server. When watermarking someone else’s photos, make sure you have permission.
