How to use the vertical image stitcher
- Choose or drop images. They are joined from the top in the order added, and more added later go to the end of the list.
- Change the order in the list and set the width basis, gap, background color and format. Check the preview and the final size below.
- Press Join and save and one long image is saved as PNG or JPG.
How several images become one
This free tool first decides the width. You can match the widest image, the narrowest, or a number you enter, and every image is resized to that width with its height changing along with it to keep the ratio. It then adds up the heights of all images and the gaps to get the final height, and creates an empty canvas of that size.
Once the canvas is ready, the first image is drawn at the top, and the next images are drawn one after another, moving down by the previous height plus the gap. Because the drawing position keeps accumulating, the images join with no seams. Finally the finished canvas is saved as a PNG or JPG file.
Browsers limit the size of an image they can create at once. Joining dozens of screenshots can make the height tens of thousands of pixels and pass the limit, so this tool shows the joined size in advance and shrinks the width automatically when it passes the limit. All processing happens inside your device.
Ideas and limits
For blog reviews and shop detail pages it is often easier to upload one long image than many. Make product photos and descriptions separately and join them in order to build a detail page easily.
Joining several chat or app screenshots into one makes sharing easier. If the file names have numbers, sort by name and they line up in capture order at once. Before joining, check that no names or phone numbers show.
It is also good for making a storyboard to see the scene layout at a glance before short videos or stories. Join scene images vertically and add a gap and background color for an easy-to-read storyboard.
The joined result can be large. PNG is sharp but big, so use JPG for photo-heavy results. If it is still big, shrink it with a tool such as the target file size image compressor before uploading.
This tool only joins images top to bottom. It has no side-by-side joining, grid collage layout or text on images. Also, fitting images of very different widths to one width can make smaller images blurry.
Some sites limit the height of uploaded images or cut long ones automatically. Check the limit of the place you upload to and split the result into two or three images if needed.
Choose the width basis to suit your purpose. To protect quality as much as possible, matching the narrowest image and shrinking larger ones keeps things sharp. To make every image look large, match the widest one, but smaller images may blur as they are enlarged, so check the preview. If the place you upload to recommends a width, such as Instagram or a blog, you can enter that number in Custom. It is free to re-join as many times as you like, so try different settings and pick the best-looking result.
When joining captures, check beforehand that the bottom of one and the top of the next do not overlap. Screenshots taken while scrolling often show the same part twice, and this tool does not align overlaps automatically and joins them exactly as added. If there is overlap, trim it with another editing tool first and then join.
Tips for good stitching
- Joining images of similar widths causes almost no quality change.
- For numbered files, press sort by name first to fix the order.
- A gap of 0 makes it look like one image, while a gap makes sections easy to tell apart.
- If the result is too long, split it into two or three.
- Check that no personal information shows before joining.
FAQ
Are my photos uploaded to a server?
No. Images are read and joined only in your browser and never sent anywhere. You can safely use screenshots that contain personal information.
How are images of different widths joined?
When you choose a width basis, all images are scaled to that width and their height is scaled with them to keep the ratio. Matching the widest image enlarges smaller ones, while matching the narrowest shrinks larger ones.
How do I change the order?
Use the up and down arrows in the list to move one step and X to remove. If file names contain numbers, press "Sort by file name" to sort them in number order (1, 2, 10) at once.
Does it fail if the result is too long?
Browsers limit the size of an image they can create at once. This tool shrinks the width automatically when the height passes about 30,000 px or the total passes 120 million pixels, and says it cannot be created if shrinking is off. iPhones have a smaller limit and may fail.
Can I add gaps or a background color?
Yes. Enter a gap in pixels and that much background color is put between images. With 0 they are joined with no gap. When saving as PNG you can also make the background transparent.
Notes & limitations
Images are processed only in the browser and are not sent to a server. Very long results may fail to save depending on the device. When joining other people's work, check the permitted use yourself.
