How to use the PDF to image converter
- Choose or drop a PDF file. The total page count and a preview of the first page appear.
- Set the page range, resolution and output format (JPG or PNG). The preview and output size update as you change settings.
- Press Save selected pages as ZIP and the images with page numbers download as one file.
How PDF pages become images
This tool reads the PDF, draws each page on a hidden canvas, and saves the drawing as a JPG or PNG file. The document is processed only inside your browser and is never uploaded, so contracts and personal documents can be converted with peace of mind.
Resolution sets how many times the PDF default size (72 DPI) is drawn. At 2x text looks crisp on screen, and at 3x to 4x it stays sharp when enlarged, which suits printing and editing. The trade-off is more pixels and larger files.
JPG trades a little loss for smaller files and suits photo-heavy pages. PNG is lossless and suits documents full of tables and text, and the transparent background option saves only the content with no background.
Uses and tips
It is most used to place one page of a PDF report into a blog post or presentation as a picture, or to send a page as an image where PDFs cannot be opened. Choosing only the pages you need with the range saves time and size.
Converting a long document takes time, so first try a small range such as 1-3 to check resolution and format, then convert the whole document.
Each file name ends with the page number such as p001 and p002, so sorting by name matches the document order. The number of digits follows the total page count.
To bundle images into a PDF, use the Image to PDF converter, and to tidy image names in bulk, use the Batch Rename tool.
If you only need one page with a table or chart from a report, enter just that number in the range and save as PNG at 2x to 3x. Text stays sharp, which is good for pasting into presentations or documents. A slide-style PDF is one scene per page, so JPG is enough.
Pages of a scanned PDF are already photos, so raising the resolution too high only makes files larger without making them sharper. A scale beyond the scan quality is pointless, so check at 2x first and raise it only when needed.
Because files are never uploaded, even personal documents and contract PDFs can be turned into images within this device only. The converted images stay on the device, so delete the downloaded files if you used a shared computer. For a PDF with very many or large pages, converting in ranges eases the memory load and finishes more reliably.
Tips for a good result
- Use 1.5x to 2x for screens and 3x to 4x for printing.
- PNG suits documents with lots of text and tables, JPG suits photo-heavy ones.
- Try a small range like 1-3 first, then convert everything.
- For images sent by messenger, JPG quality 80 to 90 is enough.
- If size is a worry, lower the resolution by one step.
FAQ
How do I write the page range?
Leave it empty or type all to convert every page. 1-5 means pages 1 to 5, 3,7,10 means those three pages, and mixes such as 1-3,8,10-12 also work. Numbers that do not exist in the document are ignored.
Which resolution should I pick?
1.5x to 2x suits viewing on screen or sending by messenger, while 3x to 4x is recommended for documents that need sharp text or for printing. Higher scales make larger files and take longer, and a side over 8,000px is reduced automatically.
What is the difference between JPG and PNG?
JPG makes small files and suits pages full of photos, while PNG keeps text and lines crisp without loss and suits documents and drawings. PNG can also use a transparent background, which helps for logo or shape PDFs.
How do I get the converted files?
If you choose several pages, you get the images with page numbers in one ZIP, and if only one page is chosen it is saved directly as one image. There is also a button that saves only the preview page.
Can password-protected PDFs be converted?
This tool cannot open password-protected PDFs. If you know the password, remove it in another program, save a PDF without a password, and add it again.
Notes & limitations
The PDF is processed only in the browser and is not sent to a server. Many or large pages may take long or fail depending on device memory. Password-protected PDFs cannot be opened, and when converting someone else’s document, make sure you have permission.
